The full court media blitz is unfortunately affecting public opinion already. There's been some push back, but not enough to dent the collective hysteria. The NPR listening lib will say Biden made mistakes without explaining how or the alternatives. It can't all be the explained by desire for war profits or protecting sources. There's something deeply ingrained in the American media class psyche that cannot fathom any kind of loss of prestige. The Baker types take it as a personal insult when the American project stubs its toe, they are wounded psychologically. The reaction to Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal does not bode well for the future of the media as America continues to decline.
I’ve been following the media-meltdown since the withdrawal began, w/ my jaw on the floor esp regarding the uniformly awful takes by journo-analysts at the big/prestige outlets.
Really appreciate your excellent & illuminating account of how/why this is happening. Is it fair to say that the practice of interviewing “experts” for confirmation of a particular position without disclosing that those experts with vested interest in maintaining the status quo is deeply flawed at best? At worst, attempting to rewrite the story to align with their own interests without caring to recognize their unfailing (unchallenged) confidence in their belief that they are able view things from “above the fray.” Is this not also a favorite tool of right-wing newsertainment industrial complex?
If these reporters can #enlighten beyond ideology, that must mean us mere mortals aren't worthy to criticize them /s. Excited to read more from you Adam!
